Now's As Good A Time As Any

I hope that one day I will achieve a great success that will explain away all my failures. Sort of like if Picasso had been fired from being a house painter or if Bruce Lee had failed at standup comedy. I hope someday people will look back and say, “Well of course he screwed up at this and that, he was Mike Shecket!“

If you turn in an assignment two weeks late, you’ll more or less get a free pass, but if you (heaven forbid) forget to recycle a plastic pop bottle, you’ll get a real sanctimonious talking-to!

I was bored during class today and there was a jigsaw puzzle on the table where I was sitting, so I took it apart and put it back together. It was pretty fun. Also, a pretty lady who was sitting next to me helped put it together. She’s engaged to be married, though. I’d like to marry someone who would do jigsaw puzzles with me…

I would pay an obscene amount of money to see AC/DC live.

I’m going to see the Black Crowes at PromoWest Pavillion today. I think the song “Remedy” is tremendous, but mostly I’m going to hang out with my excellent cousin Adam.

Dang it, I knew I should have bought some PetroChina stock!!!

Uh, that’s all I got for now, Longtime Reader. But I’m feeling a bit of a pang for economics all of the sudden while having to make all these lesson plans and crap.

Why can’t I get a Pootie Tang discussion board going in my blog comments? That would be awesome. Let’s see…what would be a good set of keywords to draw the Tang heads out? Hmm…

PULLING TEETH! PULLING TEETH! PULLING TEETH! Again, the difference from law school being that this has little or nothing to do with what I’ll actually be doing once I get a job.

I’m so exhausted…just a million zillion rassafrassin’ stupid research projects to go. You know…if I liked research…even a little bit…I would have a Ph.D. in economics by now. But I like to teach…do you hear me?…TEEEEAAACCCHHH!!!

If my blog is going to become a de facto 50 Cent discussion board, maybe I should actually listen to one or two of his albums. Or at least read his All Music Guide and Wikipedia entries…

Well, uh…happy Bastille Day everybody!

Tomorrow I get to hang out with my step-niece. Whoo hoo!

If all goes well, I’ll be launching a model rocket in class on the same day that the Space Shuttle is launched.

I’m impressed with how hard my fellow M.Ed. students work. I guess I probably had some law school arrogance left over. Everyone else has worked harder on all of the different projects than I thought I would have to. They’ve set the bar pretty high. Plus, there are a lot of projects where you have to present in front of everyone else, so if you don’t do a good job, you’re kind of embarassed.

You can read the speech that Chief Justice Rehnquist gave last year at the dedication of the new Ohio Supreme Court building here. The speech is interesting and very funny.

I was there, although I only got to watch via closed-circuit TV and never saw the man himself in person. However, I did catch a glimpse of Governor Taft and former Columbus Mayor Greg Lashutka (AKA The World’s Biggest Mayor).

By the way, with a 19% approval rating, I daresay Bob Taft must be doing something right.

My classes are pretty boring and I have some kind of project due almost every day…luckily I only have class four days a week.
