More about “the sign”

— 9:22 pm

So yeah, I saw my ex-girlfriend at the library just before Halloween last year. I was amazed that she hadn’t ODed or been thrown in jail or gotten killed by her husband. In fact, she seemed very normal and healthy and generally OK, just like I remembered her (to the degree that I really did anymore). She was gainfully employed, too.

She remembered me, even though I hadn’t seen her in over seven years. In fact, my memory of her had faded so much that I don’t know if I would have recognized her if she hadn’t noticed me first. The only thing I didn’t find out was whether she had any kids. But I assume that if she was at the library in the middle of the afternoon by herself she didn’t have any. I just wish I had a picture of her or something.

Boy, did I ever like having a girlfriend. That was pretty awesome. I definitely want to be married and be a dad someday.

    Mike,
Just wanted to take a minute to truly thank you (on behalf of myself and many other classmates in the innaugural class of a Virginia law school) for your resources at lawschool.mikeshecket.com. I am currently a second semester 1L at a brand-new law school in central Virginia. Upon receiving my first semester grades, I was shocked to see that my best grade was in Civil Procedure, the course I least understood. I owe my thanks to you, and I just wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers as you begin a new path in your education, and I wish you the best. I wish I could (in some way) return the favor you have done for me with all of the resources and explanations that helped me survive my first semester, and encourage me in the pursuit of law. Please continue to write about your new experiences and keep in touch! (I enjoy reading your blog, as I can sympathize with many of your postings.) I wish you success in your endeavors! God Bless ~ Sarah Smith ~ LUSOL Class of ‘07
